THOMAS HOPKINS

Thomas

Thomas Hopkins is a wedding, commercial and adventure focused portrait photographer in Fort McMurray, Alberta. From multi-day canoe trips on the Yukon River, to early morning sunrises from the top of the Rocky Mountains, Thomas is not afraid to capture the breathtaking shots at the heart of his clients adventures. Thomas started operating a drone in 2017 to support his real estate photography business and has found it has quickly become a tool he reaches for in both photo and video settings.

Thomas spends his day as a Professional Mining Engineer in the Oil Sands, a military reservist with the local Air Cadet unit and trying to keep up with his little girl Evie, with his wife Helene. With a foundation established in photography, Thomas has recently started to shift his focus towards videography. He recently was awarded the YMM Magazine “Best Videographer” in Fort McMurray for 2023.

TOPIC: Walk and Talk - Demystifying Drones

Thomas will speak October 29th 7:30 - 8:00am

Adding a drone to your toolbox as a creative can open a whole new world of possibilities to shift the perspective of your photography – but if you have never used one, where do you even start?

Join me for a walk-about session to talk all things drones to kick off our day – how to get started using them, where they could make a major impact for your commercial work, or perhaps add some extra flair to your creative projects. I will have some drones with me that will help shed some of the mystery of the technical characteristics of drones, the Transport Canada rules you have to follow to safety operate a drone – and of course, do some flying! See you bright and early!
